Overview

This technical bulletin discusses the following new features regarding null subscripts introduced effective V5.0-000:

  1. An option for a database to allow existing data with null subscripts but prohibit creating new data with null subscripts.
  2. New keywords for the NULL_SUBSCRIPTS qualifier of GDE and DSE.
  3. An option to allow M local and global variables to collate the null subscript before all other subscripts, in compliance with the M standard.
[Note]
UNIX-style command syntax (i.e., “-” for flags/qualifiers) is used throughout this document. On VMS, flags/qualifiers should be preceded with “/”
